Group Piano Lessons
The place most of our students begin. Group lessons bring young beginners — and adults — around the piano to learn, laugh and grow as a team, guided by the same conservatory-trained teachers and the same curriculum as our private lessons.
Studio: Hofgeest 139, 1102 EG Amsterdam
Great music, great company
Group lessons are where we recommend most young beginners start. Children learn together in a friendly, motivating environment where making music feels like play — building confidence, rhythm and teamwork alongside their piano skills.
And it’s not just for children. We also run group lessons for adults who’d rather not learn on their own — a relaxed, encouraging way to start playing, meet like-minded people, and enjoy the journey together.
Every group follows a clear, level-based curriculum, so whichever group you join, you’ll always begin from the beginning and progress step by step. All lessons take place at our studio in Amsterdam.

Adult groups
Learn to play — you’re not alone
For adults who’d rather not take lessons by themselves. Many adults dream of playing the piano but feel unsure about starting one-to-one. Our adult groups take the pressure off: you learn in the friendly company of others at the same stage, at a relaxed and steady pace. Lessons run for one full hour each week — plenty of time to learn, practise together and truly enjoy the music.

The School of Pianists is a proud registered partner of the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur. Families on a lower income can apply for financial support towards lessons in Amsterdam — so cost never has to stand between a child and music. Refer a friend — you both win
Introduce a friend to the School of Pianists. When a new student you’ve referred stays for at least 3 months, you both receive one free lesson — our way of saying thank you.

Frequently asked questions
How many students are in a group?
Groups are kept small and friendly. A minimum of three students is needed to start a group, so everyone still gets plenty of attention.
My child has never played before — is that okay?
Perfect. Every group starts from the very beginning, so no prior experience is needed. We simply place your child in the track that matches their age.
What’s the difference between the age-6 and age-8 tracks?
Both start from scratch, but the pace and material are tailored to each age group. Younger children learn through more play-based activities, while the age-8 track moves a little faster with more reading and technique.
I’m an adult beginner — will I keep up?
Yes. Our adult groups are made for beginners who’d rather not learn alone. Everyone starts together at the same level, at a comfortable and encouraging pace.
Do I need a piano at home?
Regular practice helps you progress, so a piano or weighted digital keyboard at home is recommended. We’re happy to advise on affordable options.
