Iago Hermo

Founder & teacher · Piano, composition, conducting · English, Spanish

Hi! I’m Iago Hermo — founder, director and teacher at the School of Pianists. I have almost 20 years of teaching experience in music schools and conservatories, including as Head of Education at the Conservatorio Histórico de Santiago (Spain). In 2023 I opened my own studio in Amsterdam to share a passionate, enjoyable and high-quality music education — in the studio, at home in Hilversum and online.

I trained as a pianist (Bachelor in Piano Performance) and went on to complete three Masters — in Music Composition, Music Research and Cultural Services. As a composer I write for the stage, and I bring that experience into every lesson: great music education blends knowledge, experience and a real understanding of people.

Martín Chaves

Teacher · Piano · Dutch, English, Spanish

Hello, I’m Martín Chaves, a Spanish pianist based in the Netherlands for the past two years. My journey led me to Utrecht for a Master’s in Music Performance at the HKU Conservatory.

My training is rooted in the Russian piano school, thanks to my teachers Ilona Timchenko in Spain and Professor Evelina Vorontsova in Utrecht — the technical foundation I bring to every student, backed by two years teaching at a music school in my hometown, where I specialised in preparing students for auditions and exams.

My teaching is fully personalised, adapting each lesson to the student’s level, age and goals. Whether you’re taking your first steps or preparing for a performance, my mission is to help you build solid technique and, above all, discover the joy of making music. I teach theory hands-on at the piano rather than from books, woven together with technique, sight-reading and your own repertoire. Parents are always welcome to sit in, or to learn alongside their children. I look forward to meeting you!
